The Goal Is Gridlock

It is quite amusing watching the talking heads on television scurry about trying to discredit Donald Trump.  I have gone on record in this blog with my prediction that Hillary will be the first Queen of the Socialist Democracy of Amerika and I will stick by that prediction.  Who gets offered up by the GOP as the sacrificial lamb is a different question entirely.  At first I believed, along with most people, that Trump was an anomaly and that his propensity to stick his foot in his mouth would soon derail him.  But such has not turned out to be the case.  On the contrary, the more wildly bombastic Trump appears to be the more his appeal with the masses increases.  This reality has struck terror into the hearts of the career politicians in the Republican party.
Groups of power brokers within the GOP are now meeting in smoke filled back rooms trying to concoct a plan that will remove Trump from the top seed and replace him with one of their own anointed ones, Rubio and Cruz apparently being the two favorites for the position.  Trump has broken an unwritten rule in politics.  Trump believes it is possible to step into the office of King of the SDA and not be a career politician.  The career politicians who have dedicated their entire lives to crafting an image of themselves that qualifies them for that office are angry and scared.  Why should this stupid outsider be allowed to come in at the last moment and steal the prize?  This is especially true given the fact that the winner of the Republican nomination expects, if elected to the position of King, to be given a free hand to do whatever he wants to do given the presence of a Republican controlled Congress.  This is the sort of opportunity career politicians wait for their entire lives and now Trump comes along to spoil it.
To make things even worse for the Republicans, Trump is funding his own campaign.  There is nothing anyone in the GOP can do to stop him.  If he were begging for RNC funds like all of the other candidates are doing he would be controllable, but since he is paying for everything out of his own pocket it is impossible to bring him under control.   If he were forced to kowtow to his contributors that would bring some semblance of moderation to his positions, but he is free to say and do whatever strikes him as right for the moment.  He is the figurative fulfillment of the proverbial loose cannon.
As a person who believes in freedom I find this all very amusing.  I oppose both the welfare statism of the Democratic party and the warfare statism of the Republican party.  I believe we should be free to be free in this socialistic and tyrannical land.  That makes me a member of an extreme minority and, under the rules of democracy, voiceless as to how the affairs of this envy-filled country should be conducted.  Unlike others who spend most of their lives attempting to garner a majority in order to create a new law that gives them special rights and privileges over their fellow citizens, I believe the civil government should exist to enforce biblical law and nothing else.  That puts me in another very small minority for even Bible believing Christians do not believe that biblical law should be the law of the land.  It is a strange truth indeed but Evangelicals, who are defined by the fact that they confess the Bible is "suitable for all matters of faith and practice," do not recognize that the Bible contains God's revealed will for the law of the land.  Professing to believe that the Bible contains God's revealed will for all of their lives they turn around and reject that truth by confessing that legislators elected by the majority of the voters should be entrusted with that task.  Most Evangelicals defend their inconsistency by declaring that they have no civil right to "force their religious" laws upon the God-hating citizens of this land while, at the same time, the God-hating majority of those who live in the SDA have no problem forcing their God-hating doctrines and practices upon Christians.  What a strange world we live in today.  By the way, for those of you who are not aware, biblical law does not allow for the creation of special governmental rights and privileges which are given to one group at the expense of another.  The Bible calls that sort of activity theft and God holds a very low opinion of those who practice it.  I am not so stupid as to believe that what I want to be could ever happen.  But I am smart enough to know that those who mock God and His law today will be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire in the future, so I am content.
The democracy under which we operate is like all democratic systems of government.  Its participants do everything they can to steal from one another.  Those who get the upper hand plunder their neighbors until they lose the upper hand to those who had the lower hand.  Then those who had the lower hand plunder their neighbors until the tide turns once again.  For the handful of us who believe this to be a corrupt and immoral system we seek to have a system of government that is as weak and ineffective as possible.  The less government can do in general, the less total harm it can do to us, our property and our freedom.  It is never a good thing to have an efficient and effective government since that only means that government is efficiently and effectively stealing from the minority.  That is why it is ultimately true, for those who love freedom, that it does not matter who is elected to the Congress or the Kingship, provided they spend all of their time fighting with each other, calling each other names, and passing meaningless bills about which national landmark will have their names engraved on it.  The gridlock that has so frustrated career politicians who oppose King Obama the last four years has been great.  The gridlock that will exist when Hillary is Queen with a Republican controlled Congress will be great as well.  But what happens if the Donald is elected King with a Republican controlled Congress?
Initially it might sound like a bad idea to have a Republican King and a Republican Congress.  The SDA would shortly be declaring war on Iran and Russia if that happens.  But initial perceptions are not generally accurate when it comes to Trump.  He is not really a Republican and he has so alienated the Republican career politicians I cannot see them ever agreeing to work with him as King.  So I conclude that even if the Donald is our next King the state of political and civil affairs in this country will still be gridlock, and the goal is gridlock because gridlock is good for the minority.

You Are How You Drive

Have you ever heard the expression, "You are what you eat?"  People who use this expression somehow believe that the foods we consume are not broken down into basic chemical groups prior to being digested and that it somehow makes a difference if I eat a piece of cake rather than a piece of kale.  Being one who is not easily mislead by junk science I know that it does not matter what I eat since everything is broken down into the same basic constituent parts and, as my Dad used to say, it all goes to the same place.
There is a much better method to gain access to the inner personalities and secret motivations of most people than monitoring their intake of Yuppie-approved food groups.  In fact, there is one activity that most people engage in on a daily basis in which they quite unknowingly display all of their true selves without any inhibitions or filters whatsoever.  Do you know what that activity is?  If you read the title to today's blog post you do.  People perfectly display their true personalities when they place themselves behind the wheel of their automobiles and drive off onto the roadways around them.
There is something about being behind the wheel of a car that makes people feel secure enough to be genuine to their actual selves.  I suspect it is the fact that they believe they are powerful enough to do whatever they want to do while, at the same time, believe that they are securely ensconced within the confines of their car where nobody can get to them.  How else do we explain the fact that testosterone laced men rarely get into fist fights while standing in line at the grocery store check-out line but routinely rage one another while driving their monster trucks down the highway?  Everyone is polite enough to control their natural hatred and animosity for their fellow men by pretending to like them when they meet face to face in a place like a grocery store check-out line.  But put a person behind the wheel of a car and their true sinful selves will be immediately revealed.
I have to make two left turns, one going from my home and one returning to my home, almost every day.  The left turns I have to make are dedicated turns with an arrow and each turn has two turning lanes.  As it turns out (when I wrote that I did not realize I had made a pun...please forgive me), most of the people who make left turns where I do also want to make a right turn shortly after merging into the traffic on the new roadway.  The natural, and polite, way to execute a left turn when my intention is to make a right turn shortly thereafter is to do so from the right left turn lane.  The selfish and Yuppie-way to execute a left turn when my intention is to make a right turn shortly thereafter is to do so from the left left turn lane and then speed wildly to the front of the line of cars while using my turn signal to force myself into the line of cars that made the turn from the right left turn lane.  Can you guess how most people make that left turn?
Nobody would ever dream of behaving in the fashion I witness every day while making two left turns if they were in line waiting for a ski lift or a grocery store clerk.  When was the last time you saw someone run to the front of the line and bump someone out of the way so they can get their first?  I dare say it does not happen very often.  Yet when the privacy and power of the personal automobile is present the true nature of the person is fully displayed.  These selfish folks have no problem thinking only of themselves and putting everyone else at a inconvenience so they can get to the front of the line first.
Another fascinating fact about the way most people drive has to do with tailgating.  I was trained to leave one car length for each ten miles per hour of speed I am driving between me and the car in front of me.  Although that is sometimes impossible to do, I strive to drive that way under most circumstances.  Apparently most of the other drivers on the road never learned that lesson or they decided to ignore what they were taught since the standard practice of drivers where I live is to get as close to my rear bumper as possible, regardless of my speed or the conditions of the road.  During a usual day of driving about to my various cleaning contracts I pull off the side of the road, or into another lane, dozens of times to allow people who are tailgating me to get by.  I have only been in one accident in my life, despite driving over 30,000 miles per year on average for the past 40 years, and that was when I was hit from behind by a woman who was tailgating me.  My goal is to do my best to never let that happen again.
I think we all know about the problem of tailgaters, except for those who tailgate and who appear to be completely oblivious to their dangerous behavior.  As I pondered the reality of tailgating it occurred to me that the practice of following too closely is another indicator of the personality of the driver engaged in it.  Tailgaters tailgate because they have a short-term time perspective.  They react only to what happens to the car in front of them and have no ability or desire to see past the car that is immediately in front of them.  I have fun with tailgaters on occasion by slowing down and speeding up just to see what they will do.  Usually they will dutifully follow my lead since they apparently have no driving will of their own.  They seem utterly enslaved by what I am doing and incapable of looking around me for a longer view of the situation.  In other instances when I quickly pull off the side of the road to let them pass they will slow down dramatically and wait for someone else to come along whom they can tailgate.  They appear to be incapable of driving in front and need the leadership of others to make forward progress.
Isn't this true for so many members of the Socialist Democracy of Amerika?  They wander about, aimless and goal less until someone with a long term time horizon comes along whom they can follow.   Then they quickly jump into lockstep behind that person, blind to where they are going but safe in the knowledge that the fearless leader will take them to a good place.  Socialists are famous for their long term time horizons.  They know that, given the natural sinfulness of all humankind, if they simply wait long enough and spew forth enough propaganda they can institutionalize envy and covetousness into a socialistic economic and political system.  The sheeple who follow them are ignorant fools who are happy to be a part of something bigger than they are and they willingly adopt the long term goals of the socialists as their own.  My guess is that most people who tailgate are also socialists.  If I were seeking a PhD in sociology I would pursue that hunch.
It is fascinating what I can learn merely by getting into my truck and driving down the road. I learn that people are selfish.  I learn that people are unwilling to think about others.  I learn that people will protect a small piece of roadway in front of their cars, with their lives if necessary, to keep some other selfish driver from occupying that space.  I learn that people do not think ahead and are always surprised when bad things happen to them as a result of that lack of a long term perspective.  I remember one winter day a couple of years ago when over 100 cars plowed into each other while going up I-70 into the mountains west of Denver.  The fog was thick and nobody slowed down.  Each driver was tailgating the one in front and they were all going way too fast.  One driver that I knew who was involved in the crash told me that after he plowed into the car in front of him he got out of his car and, standing in the thick fog, listened to the cacophony of one car after another slamming into the vehicle in front of his.  From that I conclude that most people are stupid as well.

Would You Make This Investment?

Let's go back in time for forty years to 1975.  1975 was the year I graduated high school.  The top ten singles in the month I graduated were, in order from number one, "Sister Golden Hair" by America, "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tennille (they are now divorced), "When Will I Be Loved?" by Linda Ronstadt, "Bad Time" by Grand Funk, "Old Days" by Chicago, "I'm Not Lisa" by Jessi Colter (a sad song if I ever heard one), "Love Won't Let Me Wait" by Major Harris (I don't remember that song at all), "Cut The Cake" by Average White Band (now a racial epithet), "Wildfire" by Michael Murphy (another really sad song), and "Only Women" by Alice Cooper.  (For a cool website that allows you to access all the top songs of the past, go here. I played "Love Won't Let Me Wait" and remembered it immediately.)
In 1975 M2 expanded by 12.1% and inflation was roaring.  The rate of unemployment was 9%.  The stock market had lost 47% of its value over the past two years and the economy was in a recession.  Gerald Ford was King of the Socialist Democracy of Amerika and he had largely been elected based upon his promise to "WIN," or Whip Inflation Now.  He didn't whip anything during his short reign.  Amerika was still in the middle of the Cold War and I was still being taught by my government school teachers that I was likely to die in a nuclear war.  Speaking of cold, I was also told by my government school teachers that if I did not die in a nuclear war with Russia I would inevitably die when the next ice age struck the world.  Yes, believe it or not, we were taught at that time that global cooling was sure to be the next environmental disaster.   There was a universal consensus among climate scientists that global cooling was going to kill us all and anyone who did not agree was clearly a denier.
But let's not dwell on the past.  Let's look into our crystal ball and see what is going to happen over the next forty years, shall we?  1977 will bring us the "energy crisis" when oil prices will skyrocket and people will stand in line for hours just to purchase a couple of gallons of gasoline.  The Three Mile Island nuclear power plant will have a fully contained leak of radioactive gas in 1979, spurning a nationwide anti-nuclear backlash.  In 1981 King Ronald Reagan and the Pope of the time (I don't recall his name.  It was probably Paul or John) were both shot by would be assassins.  1982 brings the depressed citizens of the SDA the worst economic recession the country had experienced in forty years.  1987 witnessed the October 19th meltdown of the stock market when stock values dropped by 22% in one day!
Other calamities that took place during the past four decades include Iraq War I, Iraq War II, the Watts riots (34 people were killed and over 3,400 were arrested), the "Asian Contagion" of 1997, Y2K, 9/11, oil prices soaring to over $100/barrel, hurricanes devastating the southeastern part of the SDA, the subprime credit crisis and, who can forget it, the Great Recession.  In addition to these events, the stock market dropped by 19% from 1976-78, 27% from 1980-82, 34% in 1987, 20% in 1990, 19% in 1998, 49% from 2000-02 and 57% during the Great Recession of 2008-09.
All of the above events were well publicized and struck terror into the hearts of most of the citizens of the SDA.  The fear generated by all of these terrible events, as well as dozens more that were predicted that never came to pass, caused millions of people to make the decision to never invest in the stock market.  They believed their decision to stay out of the stock market to be a rational one, given what had happened and what would happen in the future.  So, with perfect hindsight, I ask you a question.  If you had $10,000 to invest on January 1, 1975, would you put it into a stock mutual fund or would you keep it in cash?  Perhaps you would make the highly irrational decision to put it into a stock mutual fund and then endeavor to predict each time the market is about to crash and get out just in time, putting your money back in when the market reaches the bottom.  Only fools believe it is possible to predict the future and a fool and his money are soon parted.  It is your call.  It is 1975 and you can either stay out of the market or get in it and stay there until today.  Which course of action would you take?
I received an annual report from one of the stock mutual funds that I own last week.  It had a two-page graph displaying the total return of the fund since 1975.  If I had invested $10,000 into the fund on January 1, 1975 and let it sit there for the next forty years, doing nothing but watch it go up and down, it would be worth a little shy of $2 million today, an average annual total return of approximately 13.5%.  Enough said.

Only Amerikan Lives Matter

Along with the rest of you I have been reading stories about the terrorist attack in San Bernadino.  Always accompanying those stories is a series of adjectives which describe the events as the most horrific things ever to have happened to a group of human beings.  Words such as "atrocity," "barbarous," inhumane," "inconceivable," "sadistic," "savage," "vicious," "heinous," "brutal," "merciless" and "diabolical" are used with regularity when describing what has happened to citizens of the Socialist Democracy of Amerika in the handful of terrorist attacks that have taken place.
In stark contrast to the words used to described the SDA citizens who are being killed in the Global War on Terror, as King George II named the current conflagration, those innocents who die in foreign lands are not eulogized with words such as these.  Indeed, their deaths are virtually ignored.  It is as if their lives did not matter at all.  This state of affairs forces me to the conclusion that the citizens of the SDA do not give a damn about the lives of innocent foreigners simply because they are foreigners and only Amerikan lives really matter.  Here are some facts I would like for you to consider today:

  • 414 innocent civilians have been killed by US drone strikes in Pakistan from 2004-2012.  Those 414 innocent people were going about their daily lives when, suddenly, bombs rained down from the sky, killing them in a most brutal and horrible fashion.  Parents saw their children vaporized before their eyes and children saw the extremities of their parents violently ripped from their bodies in a blood-spattered mass of explosions.  All of those drone strikes had come at the behest of the King of the SDA.  Nobody has ever been held accountable for the innocent lives lost.  Nobody in the SDA cares about those 414 innocent people or their surviving family members one whit.  It is as if they never lived.
  • According to this website, "At least 2,464 people have now been killed by US drone strikes outside the country’s declared war zones since President Barack Obama’s inauguration six years ago, the Bureau’s latest monthly report reveals. Of the total killed since Obama took his oath of office on January 20 2009, at least 314 have been civilians, while the number of confirmed strikes under his administration now stands at 456. Research by the Bureau also shows there have now been nearly nine times more strikes under Obama in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia than there were under his predecessor, George W Bush. And the covert Obama strikes have killed almost six times more people and twice as many civilians than those ordered in the Bush years, the data shows."  What do you think?  At least 314 innocent civilians have been killed by drone strikes in countries around the world that were ordered by King Obama.  These 314 people were just going about their daily lives when terror rained down from the sky, killing them in the most tortuous and barbaric way.  Who in the SDA cares?  Nobody that I know of.
  • According to this website, "In the waning days of the Bush presidency, under then-SOCOM chief Admiral Eric Olson, Special Operations forces were reportedly deployed in about 60 countries around the world. By 2010, that number had swelled to 75, according to Karen DeYoung and Greg Jaffe of the Washington Post. In 2011, SOCOM spokesman Colonel Tim Nye told TomDispatch that the total would reach 120 by the end of the year. With Admiral William McRaven in charge in 2013, then-Major Robert Bockholt told TomDispatch that the number had jumped to 134. Under the command of McRaven and Votel in 2014, according to Bockholt, the total slipped ever-so-slightly to 133. Outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel noted, however, that under McRaven's command—which lasted from August 2011 to August 2014—special ops forces deployed to more than 150 different countries. 'In fact, SOCOM and the entire US military are more engaged internationally than ever before—in more places and with a wider variety of missions,' he said in an August 2014 speech."  Did you get all of that?  SDA Special Operations forces are conducting killing missions in 70% of the countries of the world.  70%!  70%!  70%!  Can I emphasize this fact any stronger?  What gives the SDA government and military the right to secretly deploy killing forces into 70% of the world's countries?  Special Ops activities are clothed in unconstitutional and immoral secrecy.  We have no idea how many innocent people have been murdered by them.  Undoubtedly it is in the thousands.  And nobody in the SDA cares about a single one of them.
  • According to this article on Wikipedia,  "Various scientific surveys of Iraqi deaths resulting from the first four years of the Iraq War estimated that between 151,000 to over one million Iraqis died as a result of conflict during this time. A later study, published in 2011, estimated that approximately 500,000 Iraqis had died as a result of the conflict since the invasion. Counts of deaths reported in newspapers collated by projects like the Iraq Body Count project found 174,000 Iraqis reported killed between 2003 and 2013, with between 112,000-123,000 of those killed being civilian noncombatants. For troops in the U.S.-led multinational coalition, the death toll is carefully tracked and updated daily, and the names and photographs of those killed in action as well as in accidents have been published widely. A total of 4,491 U.S. service members were killed in Iraq between 2003 and 2014."  I added the bold print in the above quote.  In a ten year period over 100,000 innocent people were murdered by SDA military forces.  The citizens of the SDA become enraged when a mere ten or fifteen of our people are killed by terrorists but turn a blind eye to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of foreigners at the hands of SDA terrorists.
According to this article on Wikipedia:
  • In December 2006, a tearful President Hamid Karzai lamented that Afghan children were being maimed and killed by NATO and U.S. bombs and by terrorism. In a heartfelt speech that brought audience members to tears, Karzai said the cruelty imposed on his people "is too much" and that Afghanistan cannot stop "the coalition from killing our children."
  • In May 2007, after heavy aerial bombing by the US military had recently killed 40 to 60 Afghan civilians, including women and children, wounded about 50 more, and destroyed some 100 houses, President Hamid Karzai summoned top foreign generals and diplomats to his palace to reiterate years of complaints over blameless deaths. At a news conference afterward, he said that Afghan lives should be valued too, and the Afghan people could no longer tolerate such casualties.
The above mentioned article concluded with some comments from Afghan President Karzai.  Read them and weep:

  • "Civilian deaths and arbitrary decisions to search people’s houses have reached an unacceptable level and Afghans cannot put up with it any longer."
  • "Five years on, it is very difficult for us to continue accepting civilian casualties. It is becoming heavy for us; it is not understandable anymore."
  • "We are very sorry when the international coalition force and NATO soldiers lose their lives or are injured. It pains us. But Afghans are human beings, too."

I believe it is fair to say that Amerikans are some of the most insular, most uncompassionate, most hateful, most selfish and most barbaric people to have ever populated the face of the earth.  Amerikans routinely turn a blind eye and a cold shoulder to the enormous amount of human suffering that they have created in the world.  Then, when a tiny little event takes place on Amerikan soil, they cry out for vengeance and demand retribution.  That is the way it is when people are citizens of an empire.  They come to expect special treatment.  They come to believe, as our King informed us last Sunday night, that they are "exceptional."  They come to believe that everyone outside the empire is inferior.  And they come to believe that only Amerikan lives matter.

Update:  December 11, 2015

Apparently some members of the SDA military have a conscience.  The article found here describes how four drone operators have had a change of attitude towards their work.  The article says, "the quartet of former Air Force service members wrote in a letter to Obama, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and CIA Director John Brennan.
'We came to the realization that the innocent civilians we were killing only fueled the feelings of hatred that ignited terrorism and groups like ISIS, while also serving as a fundamental recruitment tool similar to Guantanamo Bay.'
Staff Sergeant Brandon Bryant, Senior Airman Cian Westmoreland, Senior Airman Stephen Lewis and Senior Airman Michael Haas said they felt compelled to speak out because staying silent 'would violate the very oaths we took to support and defend the Constitution.  We came to the realization that the innocent civilians we were killing only fueled the feelings of hatred that ignited terrorism and groups like ISIS, while also serving as a fundamental recruitment tool similar to Guantanamo Bay,'"

Politico-Eco Insanity In Colorado

I opened my Denver Post over the weekend to be treated to a story about insanity among the career politicians who rule over Colorado in regards to their idiotic eco-concerns.  The headline informed me that "Recyclers push for state funding" and the sub-headline further expanded the theme by telling me that "Backers see garbage as an opportunity for jobs, profits despite budget crunch."  Let us consider the issue for a bit today.
Joey Bunch, the author of the piece, wrote that, "a group of Colorado political leaders and recyclers want some government help in turning garbage into jobs and profits in an environmentally conscious state with a lousy track record of reusing its waste."  I might as well begin by interpreting that batch of gobbledygook first.  Here is what the first sentence in the article is telling us:
  1. Some career politicians are seeking votes by promoting a program that the state coffers cannot afford but that will buy them career politician status.
  2. Shock of shocks, some Eco-businesses that specialize in the money losing game of recycling want to be granted taxpayer subsidized wealth transfers in order to promote their scam.  They attempt to justify their request by lying to the citizens of the state and telling them that the new subsidies will create "jobs and profits."  What is not explained is that those jobs and profits are created at the expense of existing jobs and profits in the private sector.
  3. Joey believes that at least 51% of the citizens of Colorado are "environmentally conscious," whatever that means, and he can therefore pander to their interests and overrule the will of the minority which is not "environmentally conscious," whatever that means.
  4. Joey is upset that the career politicians who rule over the wishes of the 49% of the citizens of the state who do not want to subsidize money losing Eco-businesses are responsible for the fact that, in his opinion, the state has a "lousy track record of reusing its waste."  How the "state" came to produce "waste" is not described.  How the "state" came to become an owner of the "waste" I produce is not defined.
A group of rent-seekers from Boulder called "Eco-Cycle" want the state legislature to direct taxpayer funds their way so they can earn profits from a business activity which is presently losing money.  Even a rudimentary understanding of economics would indicate the folly of their request.  Despite the fact Joey believes the majority of the citizens of Colorado want recycling businesses to be profitable, the consumers have already clearly spoken.  If the consumers wanted garbage recycling then garbage recycling would be a profitable business enterprise without government subsidizes.  The fact that they cannot make a profit without a transfer of funds from the taxpayers proves the consumers do not want what they are willing to provide.
Joey goes on to explain the political problem associated with Eco-Cycle's request.  Apparently nobody believes that is is immoral to take money from taxpayers and give it to money losing businesses with government granted monopoly powers.  The issue, from Joey's perspective, is that "the shape of next year's state budget doesn't portend an easy road for state money flowing to local recycling programs.  The state is facing a potential $160 million budget deficit next session, caused by refunds mandated by The Taxpayer's Bill of Rights and slowing revenues."  For those of you who live outside of Colorado, the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, or TABOR, is a citizens initiative that passed several years ago which requires the state to give back money to the taxpayers when state revenues exceed state expenditures.  In recent years state revenues have been high, in a large part due to the oil boom, and the state is required to return some of that money in 2016.
It is fascinating that Joey, who knows better than the rest of us, believes that TABOR is responsible for the anticipated $160 million shortfall in the state budget next year.  It does not even occur to him that career politicians who spend money they do not have in search of votes could be responsible for our present state of affairs.  No, it is always those greedy taxpayers, unwilling to pay their "fair share" no doubt, who are responsible for every fiscal crisis.  The fact that taxpayers want the career politicians who rule over us to follow the law and return some of our money bothers Joey no end.
One career politician, a Republican no less, stated that "there is no question it is something that needs to be done, but I don't think anything is going to get through the appropriations committee this session."  Why is it that there is "no question" that stealing taxpayer funds to subsidize money losing business enterprises is "something that needs to be done?"  I would really like an answer to that question but, of course, I will never get one.  How can a Republican, who ostensibly believes in a balanced budget, promote a unnecessary and useless program that will exceed spending limits?  How can any state legislator, given the fact the Colorado Constitution requires a balanced budget, ever even consider spending money it does not have on money losing environmental business activities?  The answer to all of these questions is easy...politicians do what is in their best interest, whether it is legal or not.
So I find myself, a citizen of Colorado who wants my money back as TABOR requires and who opposes all state sponsored subsidies of money losing businesses, on the dirty end of the stick.  If these subsidies do not pass this year, they will probably pass next year.  As one of those who pays a significant portion of the state of Colorado's total income tax bill I end up being the loser.  But nobody cares about me because I am in the minority when it comes to paying taxes.  The minority exists to be fleeced to finance boondoggles with politically connected businesses and that is exactly what is going to happen.  It is all political insanity, but that does not matter.  It is all environmental insanity, but that does not matter either.  All that matters is that career politicians retain their jobs and the people who vote for them get their fair share of the stolen funds.
